Volunteering with Love Volunteers and their team in New Delhi has been such a rewarding experience for me, and it is only the beginning of a long-term relationship between myself and my project.I am grateful that through LV I was able to connect with such a meaningful and well-organised NGO who were committed to the education of children and adults neglected by the government school system. Even though the level of English spoken at my placement was low, I found the students in India to be incredibly warm and friendly, and they really went out of their way to make me feel welcome in a place where I don't understand the language. Although challenging at first, classes were always entertaining, and the students' love of singing and dancing turned out to be quite infectious.
When it came time for me to leave the placement, I was showered with handmade farewell cards, home-cooked food, and lots of hugs and kisses which made it all worthwhile for me. I highly recommend volunteering in Delhi to anyone who is up for a bit of an adventure and a challenge, but also a lot of fun, you won't regret it!
