My experience in volunteering was exceptional. I loved Nepal ... I loved the people and the way the culture made me feel. The experience at the City Hospital was calm and undemanding. But full of friendly and very receptive people...Has a doctor I felt that my internship has a volunteer could be more usefull for them and for me if I could have a more interactive opportunity. Maybe at a public hospital my help could be more appreciated and needed...

I loved Nepal ... I loved the people and the way the culture made me feel. The experience at the City Hospital was calm and undemanding. But full of friendly and very receptive people...Pokhara is a very spiritual city, with a very calm environment but interesting night! It has also one of the most amazing views to the Hymalaias Mountains....: wonderful sunset or sunrise!
Project & Staff
Nicole was very present and patient during all the process. Also Keshab and Manoj, that received us when we arrive in Kathmandu, were also very nice and available guides. They received us with a very gentle smile and explained us all about the culture, the country and more about our volunteer work...
Tips
Definitely do a volunteer in Nepal: is a wonderful country, with an amazing spirit and very interesting costumes.
Pokhara is an amazing city: the Fewa lake is a beautiful place to walk or go out at night. In Nepal is all about be connected to the people and the nature... the values are the more important ones... and the peace is indescribable.
About the volunteer work I would say that you have to be prepared that you are not exactly needed there. They have a very strong medicine and very good medical team... , also, the Fewa city Hospital is a private hospital with an undemanding need: even if you are already a doctor, which was my case, your work will be more absorbing than interacting. Also, the patients do not speak english and even the medical team has some troubles to do that... so, I felt that this put me a little bit apart of the patients themselves.
Anyway, I met some other volunteers, change experiences and enjoy the time there.
Be at a host family was a very special experience too: I felt closer to the Nepali culture than ever...
